Metal Jeffersonian Drum Thermometer

Another example of the genius of one of our esteemed Founding Fathers this Metal Jeffersonian Drum Thermometer is as delightful as it is practical.

This unique drum thermometer uses a large protected bimetal coil that provides an accurate reading even in full sunlight. As the bimetal coil expands with warmer temperatures and contracts with colder temperatures the coil causes the brass drum to turn until the large numbers align with the aluminum pointer to indicate the current temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.

The drum thermometer is made of solid brass and aluminum. Within a few months exposure to the elements the brass finish will begin to age gracefully and develop a mellow patina.
